In an earlier post we shared how to swiftly clean a vase or planter using Whink's Rust Remover.  What Whink's doesn't remove are hardwater build up in planters.  We have another solution for that . . . a drywall sanding screen.

A drywall sanding screen can, when used carefully, remove hardwater stains from porcelain and pottery with a smooth surface.  Well, that and a little elbow grease. 

Sanding screens tend to work best on build-up on the inside rim of vases and planters as opposed to planters with a "built-in" pottery tray that catches excess water. 

Often, and especially with McCoy planters, the tray is simply too close to the body of the planter to have any measurable effect.  A rough texture also prevents good results. 

While this solution has some limitations it does afford an opportunity to "restore" when possible!
